‘Green Marriage’ filming soon to finish

Iranian documentary filmmaker Mohsen Sakha’s ‘Green Marriage’ is close to completion of the shooting sessions.

Following the shooting sessions, the documentary will undergo editing and dubbing before it goes for production and screening permits.

‘Green Marriage’ tells the real-life story of a young environmental activist couple living in the Iranian city of Kermanshah, capital of Kermanshah Province.

“Saeed Solymani and Shiva Motazedi drew my attention when I heard about the ‘mahr’ agreement between them,” at the time of their marriage a year ago, the director said.

Mahr is a required amount of money or possessions, which are paid by the groom to the bride at the time of marriage, for her exclusive use. The customary mahr amount is usually jewelry, home goods and furniture, though it can be anything agreed upon by the bride.

In the film, Motazedi agreed to a plantation with 1,305 trees. Their story follows along a path of establishing the first nature school across western Iran in Kermanshah.

“While mahr is often about hundreds of gold coins, the young couple agreed on a tree plantation. Their decision created a feeling of respect and admiration in me for the couple. So I went over to get to know more about them,” Sakha noted.

Details of the film’s release in the commercial market have not yet been released.

Mohsen Sakha is a known photographer, script writer, director and producer of documentary films.
